The Works is our latest addition; a purpose built site that offers fully accredited vocational courses in Motor Mechanics, Business, Construction, Hair and Beauty, Catering and Health and Social Care. The site is just a few minutes from both The Hub and The Gallery, so students can make the most of the sessions they have here. The tutors will work closely with the rest of the Meadowcroft staff, to respond to the children’s needs and engage them in sessions.
The Quals we are offering are all from Entry Level to Level 3:
- Functional Skills (Eng, Maths and ICT)
- BTec Qualifications in:
- Sports and Active Leisure
- Land Based Studies
- Music in Practical Performance
- Health & Social Care
- Business Studies
- Interactive Media
- Vocational Studies
- Work Skills
- Jamie Oliver Home Cooking Skills
- ABC Motor Mechanics
- C Skills – Construction
- DEC (Design, Engineering, Construction)
Pupils will study at least two vocational courses alongside the core subjects and PSHE. Pupils will also have access to the therapeutic provision including SALT, Art Therapy, Psychotherapy, Lego Therapy, Rebound Therapy and Thrive along with our tailored Interventions provision.
Staff at The Works are all industry trained as well as being specialists in Behaviour Management strategies and techniques. The school has developed links with local and national industries in order to offer a sustained work experience package to support the learning of all the pupils, which will be further supported by internal and impartial careers advice.
Through a focus on vocational learning The Works will seek to engage those pupils who need to be re-introduced to the joy and meaning of learning, and compliment the curriculum of those pupils based at the other two sites of the school.
